Splicing & Testing

Fiber Splicing & Testing

Fusion splicing, OTDR bidirectional certification, and 24/7 restoration response.

Splicing and testing is where fiber construction either holds up under acceptance — or doesn't. FCC's splice and test crews carry the fusion gear, the OTDR test sets, and the splice-trailer infrastructure to certify spans bidirectionally, document loss budgets, and turn over fiber that drops cleanly into a carrier's OSS. Whether you need a high-count splice closure for a long-haul backbone, a metro distribution hub, or rapid emergency restoration after a hit, our splice teams are mobilized to keep your spans on schedule.

What FCC Delivers in Fiber Splicing & Testing

Our splice teams handle single-fiber and ribbon fusion splicing across counts from drop-level FTTH to 864F long-haul cable. Every closure we build is OTDR-certified bidirectionally, every span is documented with end-to-end loss readings, and every test result is delivered in the format the buyer's program team uses — TIA-compliant reports, vendor-specific dashboards, or straight-to-OSS handoffs.

Capabilities at a glance

  • Single-fiber and ribbon fusion splicing across 12F-864F cable
  • OTDR bidirectional certification with launch and tail spools
  • End-to-end attenuation, loss-budget, and link-loss testing
  • Cable proof testing (CPT) on long-haul placements
  • Splice trailer deployment for high-count enclosures
  • Field splice-case reentry, rework, and audit splicing
  • 24/7 emergency splice response and restoration
  • OSS-ready test result deliverables (TIA, vendor-specific)

How We Run a Splice Program

FCC splice crews integrate tightly with our aerial and underground programs — we don't run fusion as a subcontractor afterthought. Splice plans are built off the engineered route package, sequenced against placement, and tracked with the same daily reporting and weekly program reviews as the rest of the build. Our trailer-based splice shelters keep teams productive in cold, rain, and dust — critical on long-haul builds where weather can otherwise put a season at risk. Every closure is photographed, every fiber traced, and every result sealed in the as-built before we leave the span.

Standards & Equipment

Test gear runs to current TIA-455-78B and FOTP standards. OTDRs are calibrated quarterly, fusion machines are kept in factory-spec and revision-tracked. Crews carry OSHA 30, the cleanliness discipline that long-haul work demands, and the documentation hygiene buyers expect when an audit hits. When emergency restoration calls come in, FCC splice crews mobilize 24/7 — paired with our restoration program for FEMA-compliant documentation when the event qualifies.
